By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

WARM-UP/REVIEW (5 minutes)

Aim: To motivate students and help students to review the actions.

*Game:“Bingo”

- Introduce the game.

- Write the following words on the board: play, ride, run, dance, catch, fly, jump, read, write.

- Have students make a 3 x 3 grid on a piece of paper.

- Demonstrate how to fill in the grid with the words and write them in random order.

- Call out the words from the board in any order. Keep a record of the words so that the teacher doesn’t say the same word twice. Have students cross off the words in their grids as they hear them.

- The first student to complete a line of three shouts Bingo! Praise the winner.

- Ask students read all the words aloud.

- Task uncompleted: Students are unable to remember action words.

- Listen to the teacher’s instructions.

- Look at the words on the board.

- Make a 3 x 3 grid on a piece of paper.

- Listen to the words. Cross off the words in their grids as they hear them.

- The first student to complete a line of four shouts Bingo!

- Read all the words aloud.

PRESENTATION (10 minutes)

Aim: To help students listen and identify what people can or can’t do.

*Lead-in: Use the pictures on page 71

- Ask students what they can remember about the postcard about Nam’s vacation from the last lesson.

- Ask students to look at the picture and tell what they can see.

- Ask students to predict what they are going to hear.

*Listen and write a or b.(Track 114)

- Ask students to look at the pictures. Elicit what the people can do and cannot do in each.

- Tell students to get their notebooks and write numbers 1-6. Explain that they are going to hear six sentences. Each sentence describes one picture, a or b. Students should write the letter of the picture the sentence describes.

- Play the recording, pausing after the first sentence. Elicit which picture shows She can ride a bike (b). Have students write b in their notebooks.

- Continue, pausing after each item for students to write a or b.

- Play the recording again for students to check their answers.

- Go over the answers with the class.

- Praise students if they have done well.

Aim: To help students identify actions and talk about what they can do; improve speaking skills.

*Look and say.(page 71)

- Ask students to read the words in the box chorally and then identify the bird and the fish in the picture. Help them read the boy’s name.

- Read the example sentences out loud for students to repeat.

- Elicit that the sentences are about the bird.

- Put students in pairs to use the words from the box to say something each animal or person in the picture can and can’t do.

- Ask some pairs to say their sentences for the class.

- Check students’ pronunciation. Give feedback.
