A LÝ THUYẾT

I. VIẾT LẠI CÂU TỪ THÌ QUÁ KHỨ ĐƠN SANG HIỆN TẠI HOÀN THÀNH

1. Last time

a. “Last time” (Quá khứ đơn) → Hiện tại hoàn thành

Ví dụ:

I last spoke to Linda three months ago.

→ I haven’t spoken to Linda for three months.

b. Hiện tại đơn → Quá khứ đơn

Ví dụ:

It’s three months since I last spoke to Linda.

→ The last time I spoke to Linda was three months ago.

2.  “This is the first time” → “Never ... before”

Ví dụ:

This is the first time I have eaten sushi.

→ I have never eaten sushi before.

3. “Started/Began ... ago” → Hiện tại hoàn thành

Ví dụ:

QKĐ: She started working here five years ago.

→ HTHT: She has worked here for five years.

QKĐ: They began living in this house in 2018.

→ HTHT: They have lived in this house since 2018.

4. “When did you start” → “How long have you...”

Ví dụ:

When did you start teaching?

→ How long have you taught?

II. VIẾT LẠI CÂU DÙNG DẠNG TƯỜNG THUẬT V-ING/TO-V

1. Nhóm đi với to-infinitive:

Động từ: advise, warn, remind, invite, encourage, ask

Công thức:

Ví dụ:

She encouraged me to apply for the scholarship.

They warned us not to enter the restricted area.

2. Nhóm đi với V-ing:

- accuse O of V-ing (buộc tội)

- thank O for V-ing (cảm ơn)

- blame O for V-ing (đổ tội)

- congratulate O on V-ing (chúc mừng)

- apologize (to O) for V-ing (xin lỗi)

- prevent/stop O from V-ing (ngăn cản)

- warn O against V-ing (cảnh báo)

Ví dụ:

He blamed her for forgetting the meeting.

She congratulated me on winning the award.

3. Một số quy đổi thường gặp

Trực tiếp	Tường thuật
“I will …”	promised to + V
“You should …” / “If I were you …”	advised O to + V
“Would you like …?” / “Will you …?”	invited O to + V
“Don’t forget …”	reminded O to + V
“All right”	agreed to + V
“Go on …”	encouraged O to + V
“Could you …?” / “Can you …?”	asked O to + V

Ví dụ:

“I’ll call you tomorrow,” he said. → He promised to call me the next day.

“You should try yoga,” she said. → She advised me to try yoga.

III. VIẾT LẠI CÂU DÙNG ĐỘNG TỪ KHUYẾT THIẾU

1. Một số cách biến đổi tương đương:

     Be necessary (for O) + to-V = need/have to

     Be unnecessary (for O) + to-V = don't need/don't have to

     Be possible/impossible + to-V = can/cannot + V hoặc may/might

Ví dụ:

It is unnecessary for us to bring our own food.

→ We don’t need to bring our own food.

It is possible to see the mountains from here.

→ You can see the mountains from here.

IV. VIẾT LẠI CÂU CÁC CẤP SO SÁNH

1. So sánh bằng ↔ So sánh hơn (phủ định)

Ví dụ:

This coat is not as expensive as that one.

→ That coat is more expensive than this one.

 

2. So sánh nhất ↔ So sánh hơn “than any other …”

Ví dụ:

He is the tallest student in the class.

→ He is taller than any other student in the class.

3. So sánh hơn ↔ So sánh nhất

Ví dụ:

This building is taller than all the other buildings in the city.

→ This is the tallest building in the city.

4. Dạng đặc biệt với “No other / None …”

Ví dụ:

This is the most exciting match I have ever seen.

→ No other match is as exciting as this one.

B. CÂU HỎI VẬN DỤNG

Sentence rewriting: Choose A, B, C or D that has the CLOSEST meaning to the given sentence in each question.

Question 1. Eating home-cooked meals is healthier than eating fast food.

A. Eating fast food is not as bad for your health as home-cooked meals.

B. Eating fast food is as good for your health as home-cooked meals.

C. Eating fast food is healthier for you than home-cooked meals.

D. Eating fast food is worse for your health than home-cooked meals.

Question 2. The presentation was so interesting that nobody wanted it to end.

A. It was such an interesting presentation that nobody wanted it to end.

B. The presentation was too interesting for anyone to want it to end.

C. Nobody wanted the presentation to start because it was interesting.

D. Nobody wanted to attend the presentation because it was interesting.

Question 3. Her kind words brought comfort to the nervous new student.

A. Her kind words encouraged the nervous new student to join the club.

B. The nervous new student decided to speak kindly to others.

C. The nervous new student felt more at ease thanks to her kind words.

D. The nervous new student had already felt comfortable before she spoke.

Question 4. As soon as the rain stopped, the children rushed outside to play.

A. As soon as the rain stopped, the children went inside to watch television.

B. Hardly had the rain stopped when the children decided to stay indoors.

C. The children started playing indoors before the rain had stopped.

D. No sooner had the rain stopped than the children ran outside to play.

Question 5. I started working at this company five years ago, and I’m still employed here today.

A. I have worked at this company for five years without changing my job.

B. I worked at this company since five years ago without changing my job.

C. I have been working at this company since five years already.

D. I started working at this company since five years without a job change.

Question 6. The last time we went camping together in the mountains was during the summer holidays last year.

A. We didn’t go camping together in the mountains during the summer holidays last year.

B. We haven’t gone camping together in the mountains since the summer holidays last year.

C. We have gone camping together in the mountains during the summer holidays last year.
