I. OBJECTIVES
By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to:
1. Knowledge and skills
- use the sentence structures “Do you like the _____?” and “Yes, I do. / No, I don’t.” to ask and answer questions about likes and dislikes.
- sing a song with the sentence structures “Do you like the _____?” and “Yes, I do. / No, I don’t.”

1. WARM-UP & REVIEW (5 minutes)
a. Objectives
- To review the vocabulary about animals at the zoo.
b. Content
- Game: “Monkeys climbing”
c. Expected outcomes
- Pupils can remember the vocabulary about animals at the zoo correctly.

- Tell pupils that they are going to pick up banana in turns, then look at the picture and say the picture’s name. - Divide the class into two groups. A pupil from each group will play the game in turn. - If he/ she says the picture’s name correctly, he/ she will get one point for his/ her group. - Continue the game until all the bananas are picked. - The group with more points wins the game. Praise the winner. |

Step 1: Draw pupils’ attention to the picture (say “Look at the picture.”). Say “Do you like the zoo?” - “Yes, I do. / No, I don’t.” Step 2: Have pupils point to the sentences (say “Point to the sentences.”). Play the recording and encourage pupils to repeat (say “Listen and repeat.”). Do this several times, with pupils repeating both individually and in chorus. Correct their pronunciation if necessary and praise them when their pronunciation is good. |

- Pupils can use the sentence structures “Do you like the _____?” and “Yes, I do. / No, I don’t.” to ask and answer questions about likes and dislikes.

Step 1: Write “Do you like the _____?” on the board. Underneath the question, write “Yes, _____.” and “No, _____.” Ask pupils what to say if they like and what to say if they do not like something. Confirm the correct answer by writing “Yes, I do.” and “No, I don’t.” in the gaps. Step 2: Draw pupils’ attention to Picture a (say “Look at Picture a.”). Say “Do you like the _____?” and encourage them to complete the sentence with “zebra”. Step 3: Say “Do you like the zebra?” Point to each of the possible answers written on the board and encourage pupils to answer “Yes, I do.” or “No, I don’t.”, depending on their own individual likes and dislikes. Step 4: Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for Pictures b and c. Step 5: Have pupils work in pairs to look at each picture and practise asking and answering questions about likes and dislikes. Go around the class to offer support and feedback. |

- Pupils can sing a song with the sentence structures “Do you like the _____?” and “Yes, I do. / No, I don’t.”

Step 2: Play the recording of the song to familiarise pupils with the rhythm and melody (say “Listen.”). Step 3: Read the song line by line and encourage pupils to repeat (say “Listen and repeat.”). Do this several times, with pupils repeating both individually and in chorus. Correct their pronunciation if necessary and praise them when their pronunciation is good. Step 4: Say “Let’s sing!” Play the recording line by line and encourage pupils to sing along. Step 5: Have pupils work in teams to make up actions for the song. Invite a few teams to perform the song for the class. |
- Pupils look at the picture and answer using the full sentence structures.
- Pupils listen to the recording of the song to familiarise with the rhythm and melody. - Pupils read the song line by line.

5. FUN CORNER AND WRAP-UP (5 minutes)
* Option 1/ Game: “Missing picture”
- Divide the class into two teams.
- Arrange pictures on the board and remove one picture when pupils are not looking. (zoo, zebu, zebra, ox, fox)
- Have one pupil from each team call out the missing picture. Correct pupils’ pronunciation if necessary.
- The pupil having a correct answer wins a point for their team.
- The team with more points wins.
* Option 2/ Game: “Pass the ball”
- Prepare some pictures/flashcards.
- Give two different coloured balls to two pupils, a red ball (ask the question) and a yellow ball (answer the question).
- Have pupils listen to music and pass the balls.
- Stop music suddenly.
- Have the pupil with the red ballpoint at the flashcard/picture and make a question, the pupil with the yellow ball will answer the question.
e.g. The pupil with the red ball will ask “Do you like the zoo?”
The pupil with the yellow ball will answer “Yes, I do.”
- Continue in the same way.
